HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY

HAPPY NEW YEAR, AND WHAT A HAPPY ONE IT IS HAVING MICHAEL HOME SAFE AND SOUND AFTER BEING DEPLOYED FOR THE LAST 16 MONTHS.

Yesterday I thought that I would attempt to put on paper all the things that have gone on with our family over these last 12 months, and thought that I would share just a few of them with you.

Exactly 1 year ago today I started this blog, and my very post went something like this:

I would like to begin with saying thanks to our family and friends for all your support and prayers. The last ten days have been really special. Christmas began at our house on the 22nd of December. We had more fun watching him open his gifts, as he said, this was the first time that he did not receive clothes for Christmas. He was so excited. As my dad once said, "If you want to know if there is really a Santa Clause, just come to our house". Well daddy, I realized for the first time, just what you meant when you said that. It was the best Christmas that I think we have ever had at our house. One that we will never forget.Michael, thanks for being such a wonderful son. We love you very much.

It sure feels good today knowing that this past year is behind us, and we can start 2006 out without a deployment in site.

January 13th was THE DAY that he left for Iraq. February rolled around and I started mailing packages, so that kept me pretty busy. I played Santa Clause and loved every minute of it. I will never forget that phone call in February and he said "Guess what, Santa Clause came to see me today". From that day forward I made sure Santa came very often.

March came, and hubby had surgery and I was on a role sending packages to the sand.

April 17th was Michael's 21st Birthday, moved to another camp and continued to battle the heat. May was difficult. On Mother's Day we lost a very special family member, and I made it through another semester of school.

June, Michael finally received his books to start his online courses, so he was busy. July was a month that I had been waiting for since January. That was the month that we would officially find out when Michael would come home for R&R.

August 9th was the day that we had all been waiting for. He arrived home 2 days early for R&R. Those 15 days flew by. Noah was injured, then on August 29th Katrina hit and that made September one hell of a month. No electricity for 9 days. What an experience.

October and Novermber were here and gone, then December finally arrived. December 24th MICHAEL CAME HOME FOR GOOD. That was our year at a glimpse.

Thanks to everyone for always being so supportive and being here when you were so needed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR...

A little less drama is what I wish for you in '06. Only drama of the good kind...happy tears and lots of laughter. :0)

Stacy, thank you for sharing your year with me. It's helping me, and my daughter get ready for future-son-in-law's 2nd trip to the sand this summer.

You and Some Soldiers Mom have been a great repository of advice, hope and instructions that I plan to keep in mind as his trip gets closer.

I'm so happy Michael is home safe, and that you had such a wonderful Christmas.

Thanks again!

Bob
