Five Months Down

Almost five months since our soldiers left for the sand. It seems like a lifetime to me. I can only imagine how long it must seem to our soldiers. It has been the longest five months of my life I think, and we are not even ½ way through this deployment yet. Long time to be away from your family, friends, your home, girlfriend, and yes Michael, your TRUCK also (but not in that order...LOL).

You guys try to eat lots of ice pops to stay cool.

I was thinking that just today... with my son coming home on leave soon, I try not to focus on the long year he will have when he returns to the Sandbox... I am just hoping that current efforts to negotiate a "cease-fire" with the largest Sunni terrorist groups are successful and then our guys can get the heck out of there!

Once you hit the six month mark, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. Your coming down the HOME stretch....I cannot wait until I can say Dan hit the 5 month mark. I have a WHOLE YEAR to go! (sigh)I am also praying the Sunnis start cooperating.
God Bless our troops and bring them all home safe and sound...soon. Amen
