WELCOME HOME PARTY FOR THE 155TH

Finally, the State of Mississippi has decided to throw that party that we were promised on December 22, 2005. Our Governor told us on the 22nd that one year from when they left for Iraq (which was January 2005)that they would have the biggest party ever. Well, I guess better late than never. That date has been set for June 4th, but the time will be announced I guess at a later date. If I had to guess, they will wait until the week before the party to announce the time.

Michael was informed via his unit's monthly news letter. It should be labeled twice a year news letter, as this was the first news letter that I have seen since they arrived back in the states.

They have their first weekend drill this coming weekend. I will anxious to see how this turns out.

One scary thing is that I ask Michael if he had to turn in any of his gear, and he said that they were going to be able to keep most of it. That is not good news to me. Makes me think that there is another deployment in the very near future. Let's hope that I am wrong on that one.

I will be keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Don't want to ahve to handle another one any time in the near future.

I will keep my fingers AND toes crossed for you!

Great to hear the 155th will finally be having their bash. I met several nice and *very* funny guys from the 155th in Germany when they were deployed.

In fact, Richard the Candy Guy of Richard's Corner on the SA Germany blog was 155th. Guess I can say that now ;-)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Our unit is planning it's welcome home party. At least this time it won't be until a month to six weeks after they are home. In GA, they had the party the day they came home. Of course no one stayed, these guys had just spent 7 months together, they wanted to do nothing but go home and take a shower, a nap, and be with their families, lmao! James is still over there, but they already found out when they are slotted to go back. How wonderful (said with total sarcasm).

I am glad they are finally having a homecoming celebration that is loooong overdue. My husband (greg at gregsnotes) was part of the 155th when he was in Iraq. They had a small celebration in our local town that turned out to be a backpatting session for the local politicians instead of a way to honor the troops. Let's hope they do better this time!!!
